FAQ
Everything you need to know about our research briefings, editorial standards, and membership options.
What is The Citation?
The Citation is a human-curated research publication that translates peer-reviewed scholarship into accessible context for education, youth, culture, and public life.
What is included in an Edition?
Each Edition includes:
- Four current Research Snapshots.
- One Classic offering historical, theoretical, or methodological context.
- One free Brief or public-facing entry point.
What is a Snapshot?
A Snapshot is a human-written research feature based on a peer-reviewed source. It includes an accessible explanation, research context, relevance to public life, source information, and a full citation.
What is a Classic?
A Classic is a foundational research article or text—typically at least 10 years old—that adds historical, theoretical, or methodological context to an Edition theme.
What is the free Brief?
The Brief is a complete public-facing research feature that allows readers to experience The Citation before joining as Members.
Is The Citation written by AI?
The Citation’s Research Snapshots are written and edited by humans, checked against original source material, and reviewed by the Featured Scholar for factual accuracy where applicable.
Does every scholar review their Snapshot?
Where a Featured Scholar participates in the review process, they receive the completed Snapshot for factual review before publication. The Scholar Review Note appears only when that review has occurred.
How are Featured Scholars compensated?
Featured Scholars receive an honorarium after publication according to the applicable contributor agreement.
Does membership include direct access to scholars?
No. Scholar introductions, speaking engagements, and customized materials are not standard membership benefits. They may be arranged separately, subject to availability and agreement.
How much does membership cost?
Individual membership is $10 per month or $100 per year. Student membership is $5 per month or $50 per year. Free Access is available for selected public Briefs and updates.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Members can cancel through the Ghost member portal. Cancellation prevents future renewal charges while generally preserving access through the end of the current paid period.
Can I request a topic?
Topic requests may be available to Institutional Members. Requests are considered according to editorial fit, source quality, timing, and production capacity.
How do institutions subscribe?
Institutions should contact The Citation at info@the-citation.us. Institutional access is scoped according to organization size, users, resources, and programming needs.
